Houghton Mine is located South of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nearest towns are Jean, Nevada,  Goodsprings, Nevada  and Sandy Valley, Nevada. Primary mining in the area included: copper, lead, silver, gold and zinc.

Prior to visiting Houghton Mine, I located an interior map and noted that it had four portals following veins in different directions.  Each had significant depth and one spanned three levels.  Sadly, the mine has since been backfilled and sealed with foam.

It's still worth a visit to enjoy the short tunnel and open stope which lead to the sealed portals.
