Porter Mine is located South of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nearest towns are Jean, Nevada, Goodsprings, Nevada and Sandy Valley, Nevada. Primary mining in the area included: copper, lead, silver, gold and zinc.

Porter Mine has two claim sites. There isn't much to see at the lower Porter claim and the upper, larger, claim is posted as private property. We were unable to locate any active claims at this site. The sign is well aged and likely from the previous owner, but until we are certain we are not trespassing we will assume the sign is current and we'll respect the assumed property rights.
