Surprise Mine is located South of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nearest towns are Jean, Nevada, Goodsprings, Nevada and Sandy Valley, Nevada. Primary mining in the area included: copper, lead, silver, gold and zinc.

Surprise Mine has two site claims. Site 1 is behind and above the Fredrickson Mine. Site 2 is behind and above the Hermosa Mine which we have yet to explore. We have only viewed the Surprise Mine from a distance because we are unsure if it is still open.
